DEAU - "Encounter"

This morning a group of GEIKO & MAIKO bump into the young OKASAN (on the right).

OKASA is the Japanese word for Mother and is the owner or proprietress of an OKIYA, the lodging house where MAIKO and GEIKO lives during the length of her NENKI (contract or career as a GEIKO).

OKASAN are always female and nowadays often ex-GEIKO or business-women like the one in the picture. MAIKO and GEIKO always refer or call her OKASAN (mother) as a symbol of respect.
