Spitfire...

Working near Edinburgh airport today, and, after work, went for a walk to get some fresh air.
This Spitfire memorial sits near the entrance to Edinburgh airport as a tribute to those who lost their lives flying such planes. When you get close to the plane, and see the tiny size of the cockpit, you do get a real sense of how lonely the pilot must have been, flying in extremely dangerous conditions in such a tiny space. It brings home the courage of those who flew them.
The plaque repeats the words that are so well known:
never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few
