Porthdinllaen from Garn Boduan

Climbed up the nearest big hill this afternoon. Amazing 360 views - Anglesey, Snowdon, Cardigan Bay, Bardsey Island, even the Wicklow Mountains of Ireland were all in view.

At the top of the mountain are around 500 Iron Age roundhouses and a hill fort, one of the largest in Wales. As I have a degree in archaeology to my name, I should really know more about such things; as it is, my guess is that these weren't permanently occupied but rather a place to run to with livestock when raiders approached.

Alternatively, I might be wrong and hundreds of Welshmen might have chosen to live up and this wind-blown protrusion all year round. I'd suggest that's unlikely though.

Whatever - it's a bloody impressive view, and a cracking walk to boot. This view is over a roundhouse towards the sheltered harbour (and third best beach bar in the world) of Porth Dinllaean.
