Water of Life...
Day hasn’t gone quite according to plan but then where’s the fun in that?
We’ve had an on/off problem with our drains for a while now. Kitchen sinks not draining properly, huge, ankle deep puddle in the driveway when there’s been heavy rain, and the worst symptom, a really horrible smell at poor Alan’s end of the house that even the most fragrant candles struggle to deal with.
After waiting for weeks for our builder contact to sort out a plumber to come and look at it all, our annual confirmation from Scottish Gas re. our service deal renewal arrived and we discovered our drains are covered under the agreement. Yay.
Very nice man from Dynorod (or Fun Prod as my predictive text called it when I sent a text to David this morning saying “the man from Fun Prod hasn’t arrived yet!) was supposed to come early this morning but didn’t arrive till 1pm, however by 1.45pm all the drains around the house had been cleared and my sinks are draining again. Typically there was no pong this morning and hopefully it won’t return. We shall see.
Anyhoo, the Fun Prod man’s late arrival meant I couldn’t go on a planned visit to a local Day Opportunities Centre (posh new name for Day Care Centre!) that is being suggested as a place Alan might attend (for some of the time) when he leaves school, so David had to go on his own. I won’t bore you with my thoughts on Day Wasting Care Centres (I’m sure you can guess) but we’ve been told that this place is different and Alan could access different activities such as wheelchair ice skating and day trips using his own support workers, so it doesn’t sound too bad. Can’t wait to hear David’s thoughts after his visit. I’ll arrange to go and visit another time.
Other than that I have spent my time trying to get my Christmas list completed to a point that I can actually start ordering things. Not quite there yet but hopefully will be by the end of the week.
Came into the lounge from the study earlier to see this shaft of light hitting the crystal and immediately thought Blip! Funny how in the days before blipping I would have walked right past and not even noticed this.
Apt too as today is my friend Fiona’s birthday, so Happy Birthday Fiona in Oz. I’ll have a wee snifter from this decanter tonight to wish you Many Happy Returns. Sending you lots of love from Bonnie Scotland and hope you get home for a visit soon xxx
Ooooh David’s just returned……off to see how he got on!
