memories
what will they say when they look at these pictures, let's say 15 years from now? Will she say "Look how much fun we had on our holiday in Thailand. This was on Karon Beach in 2013, you were only 10 months old".
"And this is supposed to be a proof of a fucking lucky childhood? The only thing I remember from all our family holidays is you and dad fighting"
"That's not fair. Of course you remember all the fun we had, too. You loved the ocean, you just wanted to run off to play with the waves, I had to hold you tight...."
"Cut the crap, mom. I really don't wanna hear this"
"Your father just got his first Nikon camera"
"Before he lost his job and started drinking?"
"He really loved taking pictures. He took so many of you and your brothers"
"Yeah, and his secret affairs..."
...
But who knows? Maybe this will never happen. Maybe the memory card gets lost with the luggage on the flight home, or the pictures become very dark or blurry and will never be looked at. Maybe the camera gets stolen, or the couple breaks up the day after? Maybe he dies in a car accident right after they return home, or she falls in love with her yoga teacher and leaves him the month after? Maybe this is the last picture of them as a family before he meets his soul mate in a fish restaurant at Karon Beach? Or maybe the couple are sister and brother, the mother is single and the child adopted? Or the child is not theirs, but kidnapped?
Who knows? Life is full of stories, maybe they all just live happily ever after...? ;)
