Things that make me smile

The Burj Khalifa

Today we had tickets to go up to the top of the Burj Khalifa. It's the world's tallest building and is an amazing site. The tickets were for late afternoon so we decided to spend the morning and early afternoon exploring the surrounding area.

Right besides the world's tallest building is the world's biggest shopping mall, The Dubai Mall. This was a must for me to see and as luck would have it there was the perfect place for Amy and James, called Kidzania.

Basically it's a small city for kids, where they 'work' in different places (McDonalds, tv studios, radio station, police station, doctors, there was even a Waitrose!) to earn kiddie money and then they can spend this kiddie money on fun things like go-karting, climbing walls, etc. Adults can go in but can't do any of the activities. Amy and James loved it and they spent all their time in there. I was able to wander the Mall and Mark took loads of photos. It was a great day.

Then we had our 'At the Top' tour. Even though you are behind glass on the open balcony, I felt a little funny when standing close to this. And looking down felt like you were in an aircraft...an amazing experience!

Afterwards we had dinner in a restaurant opposite and this was the view. We were entertained by fountains and light shows with music. Dubai really does know how to wow!
