Relative calm
I didn't believe the Daily Express style hype about stormageddon hurricanes. We certainly had a strong gale but nothing worse than Scottish folk deal with on a regular basis.
How the Express still has a readership puzzles me: they try to scare the bejeezus out of their mainly elderly readership on a daily basis. If it's not dire weather warnings it's how the value of your pension is about to go down the tubes.
It always reminds me of the film of Annie Proulx's The Shipping News where the editor suggests the headline 'Town threatened by Deadly Storm'. "But what if the storm doesn't happen?" Next headline will be 'Town spared Deadly Storm'.
