Fright night...
After a couple of days of hard work and fun, it was time to party. The house and garden had been decorated with tin-can luminaria, halloween bunting, glowing balloons and plenty of pumpkin lanterns. Apple cake and pumpkin pies had been prepared, along with chilli-con-carne, bean and pumpkin stew, hog-roast, rice salad and lots of home-baked bread. Suitably spooky punches had been concocted.
Everyone came in fancy dress - there was a vampire (scarily realistic), a were-wolf, two mad scientists, a dapper devil, a skeleton, the Black Swan and many others. I think this was the genuinely scariest costume, though the most inventive was the person who came as the Creeper from Minecraft, totally encased in boxes! It did limit his walking somewhat, and later in the evening Chris had to cut him some armholes, using a kitchen knife, which definitely looked like a scene from a horror movie!
We had an excellent bonfire, but the highlight of the evening was the dry ice, which certainly added a creepy atmosphere and made the punch look very unearthly! Everyonehad a great time, and I think it was a memorable send-off for Chris and Lizzy, who set off on their travels next week.
