Another gorgeous darter drying his wings on the edge of the swan river. I needed a bit of a lift after a sad day at work.

We made the hard decision today to euthanase Pabiola, a golden lion tamarin that we have been intensively looking after for several weeks. We didn't even think she would make it as long as she did after receiving some very nasty wounds and fractures from the male she was introduced to. He brings new meaning to the term 'wife-beater' :(. She sustained a broken tail (which we decided to amputate after consultation with specialists) and also a very badly broken foot. The tail would have healed ok, but the foot was deteriorating and the prognosis was worsening each time we changed her bandage. A sad day for keepers and staff.

On a positive note, Bonnie is flying over tomorrow!! Can't wait to see my beautiful girl. I'm a little nervous at how she will adjust and hope that she remembers me. I'm also very sad as I know that T will miss her greatly and she will also miss him, but I'll do my best to make her new home here as fun and exciting as Alice Springs was.
