Santiago sunset

We awoke to a beautiful morning in Santiago. Breakfast was followed by our first “group tour”. I estimate that we are probably the youngest couple on the trip by at least half a century☺. But they do seem to be very pleasant people.

The tour guide is a German guy who has settled here for seven years with his Chilean wife. His English is far better than mine but he practiced using it just a bit too much. By midday I was bored to death and couldn’t wait to find a bar and have a beer as the temperature had climbed steadily since breakfast and was way into the 30’s.

By mid afternoon we were let loose. Mrs. Bob and me found a very good bistro for lunch in the shade with two large beers which was under £20, love it!!

There is not a great deal to see here in terms of history. The locals are really lovely helpful people and Santiago certainly is bustling on a Saturday.

The City is in a valley with the Andes as a magnificent backdrop. The tall building in the blip is the tallest building in Latin America.

Smog is usually dense in Santiago as there is little wind. Tonight, we have been fortunate.

Tomorrow, we fly South to Patagonia, fingers crossed it will be as good as I hope it will be!
