After The Storm
I suspect, if the weather forecasters are right, there will be lots of stormy blips over the next few days. For some reason our wee storm arrived at lunchtime today.
The morning had been breezy and overcast but pleasant enough for getting out and about. By late morning the wind was getting up and then the rain arrived. By jings it didn't half pour and it was quite stormy. However, it didn't last long and by late afternoon the rain was off and the wind had died away to nothing. I reckon we must have been in the middle of our wee storm. It was time to get the camera out and search out a blip. As it was high tide and the waves were crashing on the beach the choice of blip was easy. The scene was grey and almost monotone looking across The Bay towards Arran. Today's blip was in the bag.
Back home I started to edit the shots in camera and was about to upload the images when I looked out the window. The grey monotone skies were going pink from the west as the clouds started to break up. It was back on with the wellies and jacket and down again to the rocks I had just left. To capture anything of the colour I had to get as far out on the rocks as possible and away from the hills beside me. The waves were literally crashing on the rocks at my feet as I blipped away trying to get the best combination of sky, rocks and sea. Then whoooossshh.....an extra large wave broke against the rock I was standing on and I was soaked! Fortunately, my first instinct was to protect the camera and it only caught some of the spray. However I was drenched and felt ever so stupid - what lengths we blippers go to for our daily fix!
As the colours in the clouds from the sunset off to the west were getting richer and reflecting off the surf I couldn't resist a few more shots. This is one of them.
