Lifeboat selfie

So I was down at the lifeboat station today to do the final bit of teh basic training for the lifeboat. We had to do emergency survival procedures, basically all teh stuff we'd have to do if we ever had to evacuate the boat.

We did a crocodile swim where you help an injured person move by hooking your feet under their armpits and swimming for them. We also did a huddle If we had to leave the boat we'd use our safety line to link ourselves together, partly for warmth but also to make a bigger target for search teams to spot. It's one of these things you train for then hopefully never have to use.

We have our first basic assessment a week on Monday and, assuming we pass that we're cleared to go on the boat on calls.

Exciting stuff!

Also got a first chance to test my own wooly bear and dry suit today. Despite the autumn water I'm happy to report I was warm and dry.
