Of Mice and Menus

Items on my dogs' menu today:

- garter snake (managed to escape before being mauled or photographed)
- mouse from the wood pile (not as lucky as the snake)
- not-quite-ripe tomato from garden (found hidden in the dog bed; many others still missing)

A few of the items on the dinner menu at trendy tapas-style restaurant:

- sweet potato frites with garlic cilantro aioli
- braised short ribs with wilted spinach and red wine demi-glace
- lemon-scented risotto with seared scallops

Item not on menu but still present at trendy tapas-style restaurant:

- mouse scurrying from table to table, finally settling under the base of our table



In gratitude for my just taking it in stride and for keeping my daughter quiet about the mouse, our dessert was comped. Wish I could say it was cheesecake, but it was banana chocolate crème brûlée.
