The art of passing time
Our flight left Ethiopia at 1am and 7 hours later we were on the tube to Euston and then had 4 hours to while away before our train home to Dumfries.
We had some heavy bags (mostly full of coffee beans) so took it in turns to walk about. I went to my favourite haunt, the Wellcome Collection, where time passed very pleasantly. (I didn't draw anything because there was no chalk).
Our seat outside Euston Station was on one of a set of four benches which I had never noticed before, all made of stone from different geological eras. Ours was Portland limestone from Dorset, patterned with fossil shells from 150 million years ago. This put the hours of waiting into perspective...
