Chris and the Muddy Path
I remember taking this - my brother and I went wandering near the house that we were all staying in on holiday in Tyberton, which is near Hay-on-Wye. That was a fantastic holiday - beautiful house we stayed in, all the family together.
The 6 months that followed were quite possibly the most traumatic that we had as a group of people, with separation, the sudden and devastating loss of my nephew, my separation from my now ex-husband and the final slide into illness and ultimately the loss of my Grandad. It was almost like that holiday happened to give us all a reminder of how important we all are to each other so that we could support each other afterwards.
This is one of my favourite personal photos of all time - it captures the essence of my brother - independant, purposeful, on a mission, with a beer in his hand!
