Suomen joutsen
The Swan of Finland is a full rigged ship build in 1902, a whole 9 years earlier than our apartment house.
She is a real beauty sitting in the harbour of Turku. She has been a training ship in the Finnish navy back in the 40s and made 8 long ocean voyages, including a trip around the South America from Panama Canal to Cape Horn.
She served also as a stationary Seamen's School for the Finnish Merchant Navy in Turku. In 1991 it became a museum ship owned by the city of Turku. Nowadays it is part of museum of Forum Marinum - a maritime museum here in Turku.
She is more beautiful than any of the ships participated in the Baltic's Tall Ships' Races this year.
I encourage anyone visiting Turku to visit the museum of Forum Marinum together with the Swan of Finland.
