Sad day

I've been stuck at home waiting for a courtesy car to be delivered while mine is repaired. This was useful for catching up with paperwork, however, I was bombarded by chainsaw noises. Planning permission has been given for a new house in the garden of the adjacent house - one of the oldest houses in the village, with a wonderful Tudor high brick wall. This wall will be partly removedf, despite being a key feature of the conservation area our houses are in. Almost the entire village was against these plans, but the district planning committee approved them. Within days, work has started to remove the trees. This enormous fir tree was a great roosting site for birds in winter as well as being an attractive feature of our view. What a sad day. Many villagers are now asking just what is the purpose of conservation areas that were established so carefully, with local support, some years ago.
