A Day At A Time.

Not At Work

I succumbed and stayed at home today. I would have been neither use nor ornament to anybody, such have been the symptoms of my lurgy.

The coughing with the sore throat and not being able to breathe is probably worst, with the aching and weakness in all my lower limbs coming a close second.

But being a teacher means you have to think carefully before staying in bed for the day. Just because you are not there does not mean your classes will be absent too and someone has to cover them for you.

And you have to get an exploding head around what work they can usefully do in your absence.

So you know if a teacher is too ill to come to school, it must be more than just "man 'flu", whatever that is! But it is half term now, and so my colleagues will be enjoying a free drink at the chiringuito about now and saying what a lightweight I am for lumbering them with extra work in their free periods!

So thank you everybody. Sorry to be feeble.

Would you like to swap places for half an hour? I thought not. Have a great half term.
