Pausing for breath!

Bright and sunny; a glorious morning! We made the most of it and had a super walk, saw seals and gannets, herons and eiders. Heard goldcrests in the bushes up by the old wall but didn't manage to see them. Lots of migrant birds about just now, plenty of fieldfares and redwings starting to appear, so we know it's definitely autumn.

Our neighbours have their mist nets up and have been catching, recording and ringing birds for the last couple of weeks, mostly starlings, coming from Scandinavia and Northern Europe. Have to keep Ollie out of their garden so he doesn't get caught up in the nets!
