Tribute to a fallen giant

Walking the woods between the showers today, came upon this sweet tribute to a fallen giant. Someone had left some flowers in the roots of the Old Beech, felled in August after 225 magnificent years of life. The deluge overnight had left sodden ground. And now the forecasters are warning of a wild wind storm in 48 hours time. I hope it does not hit us. Just don't want to see any more fallen giants.
