Red Dogwood Leaf (Leaf Blip III)

The small dogwood in our modest new landscaping has turned red while we were away in Europe (the link is to a blip exactly a month ago). This morning there were very few leaves left, and a brisk wind was blowing them off almost by the minute. Only a handful are left this evening.

So it was really my last chance this year to capture the brilliant color. View it large to better see the veins on the leaf--they seem almost transparent. It's my third leaf blip in a row--I'm tempted to try to continue the series.
