Like a Chinese Lantern.

Out Inishkea cape gooseberries are nearly ripe. I love the papery husk which hides the lovely orange fruit.

Physalis got it's common name because of it's use in South Africa near the Cape of Good Hope. It is native to the Americas, so it's a long way from home, but grown from seed in the springtime here on the Isle of Mull.
