Going up

A frowning sky this morning did not discourage visitors to town from embarking on the Escapade for the daily pleasure cruise up the Clyde River to the village of Nelligen. The unusual vertical-lift span of Batemans Bay Bridge is not often raised other than for the Escapade or her sister vessel. As soon as the boat is through, the man in the wee house winds the span back down and the road traffic resumes. On the boat's return in the afternoon, he goes through the same procedure then goes home for his tea and, perhaps, to rest his arms.
