Grading Papers
Even though I don't go to the classroom on Wednesdays, I do spend a large portion of my day working. This crummy iPhone photo is my evidence.
This morning I did 2-hours of online office hours (on my laptop computer in the convenience of my home) and one of my Thursday students stopped in to "chat." He just had a couple of quick questions, but it was nice to be available to help him make a decision about one sentence he was writing and couldn't quite get it to say what he wanted it to say.
Then I spent a hour or so working on the online course assignments in the Blackboard program. That always takes more time than I anticipate.
Then mid-afternoon I finally settled down to some serious reading, commenting, and grading of papers. This has been a productive day.
When Mr. Fun arrived home we sat on the patio for a while de-briefing and catching-up with each other. Wednesday is one of his big days, so it is always nice to learn how his day progressed. He also goes to see his mom on Wednesday late afternoons before he comes home. He thought their time together this afternoon was good because he got her reminiscing about moments when they used to camp at the beach when he was a toddler. He said it was so much more interesting than many of his visits with her when she is paranoid about people supposedly walking on her roof or the kids next door putting a water hose in her chimney. Mr. Fun is always saying she has cabin fever and therefore she is paranoid. I think he is in denial about her dementia, but she absolutely refuses to move to a facility that could give her quality care.
So that's the sum of my day. Pretty boring, but so enjoyable to work from home.
Good night from Southern California.
