Tobacco Dock
Tobacco Dock is a Grade 1 listed warehouse in London. It was constructed in approximately 1811 in the Docklands area of east London and it served primarily as a store for imported tobacco.
In 1990 the structure was converted into a shopping centre at a development cost of £47 million and it was intended to create the "Covent Garden of the East End", the scheme was unsuccessful.
Today, Tobacco Dock is occasionally used for large corporate events. In early 2004, part of the building was used as the studios of the Channel 4 reality television show Shattered. In 2012 the MOD used it as accommodation for 2,500 soldiers deployed to guard the Olympic Games in London.
