The accidental finding

From the library window

CleanSteve dropped me off near my place of work today, as he had a meeting. But it was early so I decided to forgo the pleasure of coffee in Star Anise cafe, and go instead to the library, to catch up on reading.

In the reference library, I read the local paper but not the Daily Mail (because I don't) though I later found out that it carries a sad story about why the school I work at is facing closure. We hope that this will not happen after 101 years: an urgent action plan is being formulated as I write.

I also noticed that the window of the flats opposite the library was reflecting the splendid facade of the Victorian-era Art College, so whipped out my camera for some discreet shots.

Then I went to work, and later to South Glos and Stroud College, which finally agreed to issue me a Staff ID and contract as a life model. It's a long, long story but I got the ID card, which entitles me to discount travel on local buses. After modelling, I was going to ask the tutor if he had any more dates for me, but there seemed to be a revolution brewing among the students, some of whom did not want to do any more life drawing! The merger of Stroud College with Filton College, less than two years ago, is causing bureaucratic headaches and, I suspect, falling numbers of staff at the Stroud campus, though I have no figures to back this up. It's a shame that Human Resources are seen as just that: expendable units of production that are expendable, to be replaced easily if they drift away.
