There's Life In The Old Dog Yet
"You ought to know that October is the first Spring month."
- Karel Capek, The Gardener's Year
Two things about today:
1. Took dearest Connie-dog to the vet on Monday (thank you Alison for the lift) for rabies and parasite jabs and was advised that she (Connie, not Alison !!) should have several extractions as serious tooth decay was harming her health and heart. So took her back this morning (thank you Deniz for the lift) for said treatment. Collected her after school (thank you Koray for the lift) and all is well. Now I feel a mixture of joy and guilt - was toothache the problem for her lethargy before?
"You can't hide your true colours as you approach the Autumn of your life."
- unknown.
2. Honey of a student, dearest D, came to talk to me, very distressed, about recent edicts concerning the feral cats that live on our 65 acre woodland of school campus. I could only answer with what I believe to be morally and ethically right, which is, that we have a responsibility to protect and defend those who cannot protect and defend themselves.
