Autumn walled garden

I was on my way to TK Maxx when I passed the road sign for Elford. It was just sunny at that point, and I happened to have two cameras with me (as you do), so I went to snatch one of the sunny spells.

It's gloriously messy and autumnal. There are some spectacular dahlias still in bloom

and a few glorious roses still

But mainly it is in that rich, autumn untidiness, with enormous pumpkins and lots and lots of soggy green.

They are all geared up for their Bonfire celebrations, on Nov 2nd, and there's a huge shaped pile of wood all ready - plus lots of strange scarecrows around the place.

I was the only person there - and it had a kind of magic.
