Sandy Beach Monk Seal !

Was shooting the waves and lava rock down by the shore, imagine my surprise looking left instead of right where I had been concentrating, to see this sleeping monk seal - just lying there enjoying the late afternoon sun. He blended well with the lighter colored rocks. He wasn't cordoned off and I did not want to go change lens, so used 18-55mm from a few different angles. I was chuffed (love that Eng. term and it describes exactly the elation of spotting it and getting a decent foto). He was black on top shading to grey underneath. The black showed lots of scars along exposed side and lower back. His tail fins were grey and his right flipper was black with a while patch. He ignored me; I wasn't sure he was alive until he gave a loud sneeze and waved his flipper at his nose, then settled back down. It was incredible to see.
Whoopeee!
Wonder how he'll get back into the ocean? Would have loved to have seen that.
