The Flame Trees of Ilkley
I am currently enjoying a spot of leave.
So, it was raining heavily. So, I have boots, gaiters, legs, a hat and a poncho and I'm not afraid to use them. So, off I went.
I've always wanted to walk the 11km between Otley and Ilkley by the back road through Weston, Askwith (where the only pub is out to let), Denton and Middleton. It was a most worthwhile bimble and I learned much along the way. I also met a lovely hen partridge, who, like most females, sought escape as I came ever closer, but without success; I bade her good day and left her to find an escape hole through the roadside hedge. Sadly, she wasn't in a mood to have her photograph taken. I also watched the West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue people practising in the Wharfe at Middleton; unfortunately, the rain was blowing into the lens. It was one of those days.
Unforgiveably, I had forgotten to take my good camera, so I was reduced to using the camera on my iPhone, hence the result you see here.
Here's a tune I like to whistle as I stroll along at the quick march.
