Loweswater.

After yesterday's gale force winds and relentless rain, we had hoped for a bit of respite today. Inevitably it was not to be and, except for about 20 minutes at the start of the walk, we got another pummelling from the elements.

There were no marked paths for us to follow today and we had to rely on compass and map to get us round. Our first problem came within a mile of the car park when we realised that the stream that we needed to cross had swollen dramatically because of the rain and was running far to deep and fast for it to be safe. Eventually we managed to fjord it but at the expense of a boot full of water and a very steep climb out of the gully.

And so the day continued.

Back home this evening, a total of 12 Wainwrights bagged and, remarkably, no signs of trench foot. All things considered, a decent couple of days.
