Two small men. One bigger picture...
These wee guys are less than 5cm tall and form part of a large painting in progress by Absent Voices artist, Rod Miller.
Alongside artist Anne McKay, Rod is 'Walking in the footsteps of Spencer and Eardley' as part of Absent Voices.
Stanley Spencer and Joan Eardley are both inexorably linked to the Inverclyde area; Spencer came to the area in his role as war artist, while Eardley was introduced to the area by her friend, Dorothy Steel.
Rod and Anne's project for Absent Voices – a 15-month-long exploration of Greenock's lost sugar industry – will focus on how drawing and draghtsmanship were once the one true way to documental details and facts in relation to people, places and buildings before commercial photography.
Through Spencer and Eardley's studies we can see, taste and smell the atmosphere of post war Greenock and its citizens.
Rod and Anne are currently working with schools in the Inverclyde area, introducing them to the joys of draughtsmanship - not to mention the wonderful work of Eardley and Spencer.
