The Greeter

The first to bid us
a friendly 'hello' crawled up
from under a rock.

Before I left Arizona in the spring, I built little "lizard castles" for these little creatures that live in my yard. I piled the biggest rocks I could find into heaps that left spaces between the stones. I felt the need to protect these lizards because the roadrunners often trek through the yard hunting for food. They pick these lizards off with no trouble at all! So, I was very pleased to see this little guy crawl out to watch the proceedings as we backed the trailer into the driveway and then tour the yard to see how things had survived in our absence.
