Glenfiddich Distillery

The trip round the distillery was just right, not too detailed at any of the stages but sufficiently interesting to make the half hour fly by and to get us to the tasting room.

I foolishly thought that if you kept your Glenfiddich 12 year old for 3 years you'd have a 15 year old. How stupid was I.

Each of the three main whiskeys, 12, 15 & 18yo, is made up of a complex combination from oak smoked barrels previously hosting oloroso or jack daniels. The 12 yo has a distinct fresh pear flavour, the 15yo is sweeter and has the sherry undertones and the 18yo was my favourite.

Our party of 4 was made up of 2 drivers (not me) and a non whiskey drinker. I had to help them all with the tastings so that they didn't seem unappreciative and, by the time we left, I thought that the Glenfiddich Whiskey Distillery tour was one of the best tours I had ever been on ever :)
