Lyttelton Harbour
This was a brief interlude in the day where I took my very sick child out for a drive and we ended up here. It was freezing but beautiful. Apparently there is a snow fall expected on these hills tonight but I can't see what clouds it is planning to fall out of?
The hills and the sea are typical bright un-real looking NZ landscape colours apart from the grey wintery sky. The browner hill in the forground is actually an Island and is probably drier than the hills behind which show a bit of spring greening. Apparently in the olden days the lepers used to be put out on this Island to keep them away from the rest of the new settlement over the hills. It would have been a grim and nasty place to live, but with a nice view! Not sure that made up for much as I think lots of them died.
I had the most amazing photo of a seagull in flight which was so clear and crisp so it was a battle to choose a blipbetween them and many others that were also interesting and maybe more "arty". Some days you get heaps and others its a struggle. It is a pity you cant store up those extra good ones for the next days...
