Letting the grass grow!

This is the bird feeder in my back garden - it needs more feed. When I went to fill it, I was surprised to notice that there is grass growing inside it.

I can't think how grass got there. I can only surmise the birds using the feeder bring it with them? Maybe this is how grass can sometimes be seen sprouting high up from walls and other improbable places.
