Full of exciting things.
So full of colour and exciting things, no wonder this part of Edinburgh’s Scottish National Museum is so popular with all ages. This section was formerly part of the Royal Museum, encompassing geology, archaeology, natural history, science, technology and art. On the left there is a huge, working beam engine, and just peeking into view behind it is one of Jackie Stewart’s F1 cars, the one driven by Joss Verstrappen. Suspended above there is a small model aircraft. To the rear on the right there is a model steam engine, and right at the front is a model of Dolly the Sheep, born on 5th July 1996, the first ever mammal clone. Dolly was not an unconditional success as she had to be put down six years later suffering from a progressive lung disease, but the actual cloning was something of a scientific break-through whatever your views on the matter. Close inspection will reveal just how popular this museum is, with crowds of people, especially children, everywhere! Such an exciting place for youngsters to be.
