Just turning

The leaves on the horse chestnut tree are just starting to turn. Suddenly, in the last few days, some trees are beginning the descent into autumn. The crowns of many beech trees are yellowing by degrees. But the oaks remain green, mostly, if not a bit dusty. The sticks of conker-seekers litter the umbrella of the overhanging branches, but there is still hope there may yet be some up there in the upper reaches.
