Going Underground
I spotted a piece on the local news about a local underground reservoir being opened to the public so a visit had to be arranged.
Built in the 1880's to supply fresh, clean water to Leyland and surrounding area. It is brick built with vaulted ceiling. A larger reservoir was built in the 1940's and this one was maintained as a back up facility until the 1980's.
It is now going to be demolished to allow construction of new houses. The builder has opened it to the public free for 2 weeks before it is lost forever.
