Dover Lighthouse

There are two lighthouses here, this one and one on the cliff edge. This section of the channel is treacherous for ships. To safely navigate into the harbour the ships must align the lighthouses to ensure a safe route through the sandbanks and avoid running aground.
It has been very wet all day here. We went for a walk to the lighthouse then went into it for tea and scones. What an experience that was, a step back into the 40's. china tea sevice, 40's decor and furniture and Glenn Miller playing on the record player. Yes, that's right, the record player! A real old one like a sideboard with two built in speakers either side of the turntable. And a stack of vinyl, big band sounds etc, on the side.
This evening we went to Canterbury University to see an interesting adaptation is Shakespeare's As You Like It. It was very good.
