Who's got the Cherub?

For many months (or could it even be years?), I have driven or walked past this sign which states:-

'The Cherub has been removed for restoration and will be returned in August 2009'


As we moved from late July into early August the tension became unbearable. It was hoped it would appear during the early part of the month, but as the days turned into weeks there was still no sign of it. As we reached the final week in August the anticipation was unbearable and I found myself being unable to sleep at night. When would the Cherub return?

Well August has gone and there is still no sign of it. The sign hasn't changed - the unfulfilled promise of an August return still prominently displayed.

This situation is shocking and can't go on. What is happening? I think we should be told.

Perhaps there is a ransom involved.

I would like to make a plea for whoever is holding the cherub to release it without further delay or at the very least give us some indication that he/she has not been harmed.

Maybe someone would care to offer a reward?
