Gypsy Vanner Horse
Backblipped 20th Oct
A slight delay this morning, as the mare gave birth to the most beautiful long legged crème coloured filly. We ofcourse, had to spend some time ooing and arring over this wee treasure and many photo's later.
So, and little later than intended we (only 4 of us) plus Antonia travelled one & half hours north west to the Twelve Oak Stud. Their website for more !
OMG, what an extraordinary and amazing place this is. Beautifully landscaped, ponds, horse paddocks, 2 outside arena's, a ginormous indoor training facility in the making, state of the art stables and tack rooms.....we were blown away. And the friendliness of the owners and staff was unprecedented. They couldn't do enough for us. We ended up having lunch there and going back into the paddocks whilst they worked with different horses of varying ages (and personalities).
The Gypsy Vanner horses have the most incredible manes that go to the ground, tails that look like bridal veils and huge white hairy feet.
In this picture, one of the staff dressed appropriately and rode this magnificent stallion named Prince around the paddocks. I had hundreds to choose from but chose this one as loved the flowing of the mane and tail, but also the riders beautiful hair. It's worth a glimpse large
Today I took 904 images.....good grief!!
We then travelled back, did some editing for a while, then was served a magnificent dinner outside enjoying the tranquil setting with great company.
A magnificent day, we aree very tired and decided not to do any editing so hit the hay a little earlier than the previous evening.

PS. This stud supplied this horse and a lot of others for The Lord of the Ring trilogy, The Hobbit and Chronicles of Narnia.
