Roses

When I met with my sister for coffee yesterday, she surprised me with a beautiful bouquet of roses! I do so love fresh cut flowers...the beauty is always short-lived, but so worth it.

I think back to my growing-up years. After the Saturday house cleaning was finished, I was allowed to go to our flower garden, scissors in hand, and cut flowers to bring indoors. I recall the gorgeous asters, gladeolus, bachelor buttons and sweet peas. Then mom would make a bouquet using various things for adornment including baby's breath and carrot tops!

So, thank you to my sister for the roses and for bringing up such good memories!
