Phase Unfazed

My daughter has been going through a "pink pony t-shirt" phase for the past two summers (modeled above as well as here, here, here, and here). Last year when she was three she fell in love with this shirt, and all hell broke loose if it happened to be in the laundry. So I went back to Kohl's (inexpensive department store) where I bought two more exactly like it. I did this not to give in to her but purely for my own sanity. (Many thanks to my friend LW for the idea -- she did this when her son went through his Spider Man t-shirt phase.)

This year, she's still in love with the pink pony t-shirts. And they still fit. About half-way through June, she realized there was more than one, but that made her even happier. People notice that she wears the pink-pony shirt most days, and I suppose some think I let my kid wear the same t-shirt day-in and day-out, but I don't care. I feel like we're both winners. I dressed her for a total of $15 (and they lasted two seasons!) and morning skirmishes are a thing of the past. She dresses herself and gets to wear a clean pink pony shirt pretty much whenever she wants.

Another phase she's going through now is holding my hand. She's actually quite independent, but lately she's found comfort in holding onto my hand. We were at a zoo today and I took loads of animal pictures, but this was the one I liked best. It reminds me of this phase and how much I'm enjoying it. Really, I have to say I love this phase and hope it doesn't end any time soon. (The pink pony t-shirt phase, however, is long overdue for extinction.)
