Just a Lily

Looking elegant and cool, whereas I am not.

I am sporting some very itchy mosquito bites (some in some hard to reach places)
Trying not to scratch but ooh they are really i-t-c-h-y!

The hotel here in Kota Kinabalu is lovely, but is situated next to forest with lots of bitey insects.
Singapore has a very intensive irradiation campaign to keep mosquitos at bay with stiff penalties for anyone found to have breeding areas around their home. When I first came to S'pore I couldn’t understand why I couldn’t buy saucers for outdoor plants but as any small amount of stagnant water can attract mosquitos, I quickly realized why. Most apartment blocks are “fogged” (sprayed with insecticide) weekly so I although there mosquitos in Singapore (and there has been an outbreak of Dengue fever this year) I have become quite complacent about protecting myself.
Lesson learnt!
