Shining Artwork

"It brings the cloud and skies to the ground," said NZ based Slovenian sculpture Gregor Kregar.

The sculpture of Cumulus Gate Pavilion is for Kiwi aviation pioneer Richard Pearse. It is loosely based on a cumulus cloud, reflecting its surroundings, including lights that shine on it at night and flax that are planted around it.

More than 1000 pieces of mirrored stainless steel and 8000 bolts have been transformed into a geometric sculpture in front of Christchurch International Airport's new terminal.

Gregor Kregar described the sculpture, which reaches eight metres at its highest point, as one of his most ambitious, largest and most complex pieces.

The building behind the sculpture is the Control Tower.

The sculpture is the second piece in a set commissioned by the airport. The first, Clouds for Richard Pearse, hangs in the baggage-claim area.

Tonight I was collecting Daughter E from her most amazing trip to Melbourne. She had a wonderful time on her Patisserie course and enjoyed some time shopping with a girlfriend. A few new outfits, shoes and boots, all royal blue, and the biggest grin ever!
