The Land of Beach Huts

'The beach' at Mudeford near Christchurch in Dorset harks back to the days when an English Summer holiday meant sand and sea and the traditional Beach Hut.

I personally don't like and never have liked beach holidays but there is something that seems unique and attractive about this place. The beach at Mudeford is a sandbank which forms part of Hengistbury Head and the way many people (me included) get there is via a very short ferry ride from Mudeford Quay. The place consists of just a sandy/grassy peninsula with around 350 Beach huts, a cafe/restaurant and a 200 year old building called 'The Black house' which has been converted into holiday flats and that's about it.

Once there we had lunch at the only eating place and then took another ferry to Christchurch Quay which takes about 20 minutes or so.
