Ahoy

Having been unloaded this ship was floating high in the water at Glasson Dock this morning.

After a bit of research I managed to educate myself in the meanings of the markings.

The GL stands for the surveyors of the vessel (Germanischer Lloyd), while the other letters and marks relate to the safe loading level depending on the destination of the vessel due to the different densities of the water.

The letters on the load line marks have the following meanings:

TF – Tropical Fresh Water
F – Fresh Water
T – Tropical Seawater
S – Summer Temperate Seawater
W – Winter Temperate Seawater
WNA – Winter North Atlantic
