Screech beetle

Hygrobia hermanni is a medium sized water-beetle announces it's presence with a noticeable high-pitched squeak, making it instantly identifiable and giving it the common name of 'Screech beetle'. It's fairly common in still water, usually ponds and ditches with muddy bottoms, and it feeds largely on midge larvae and worms.
