Dumfries Today

I had a meeting with clients at Dumfries Royal Infirmary which was very interesting and a break from the norm!

They have a borehole pump which fills a swimming pool. They then have 2 surface mounted bed plate pumps (manufactured in 1948) transferring the water to another swimming pool.

From here gravity takes care of the rest. They supply water to various sites.

It was fascinating getting stories from the on site engineer about the history of the sites (quote: lunatic asylum: unquote) and how the people ended up in there I.e men from the war with what is now post traumatic stress disorder and women who had babies out of wedlock.

You just couldn't see that happening nowadays!!

This was a picture of the River Nish which was swamped with many different types of birds.

Off out tonight with MrsT for some dinner and the movies.......
